Who?

I am a professional drummer based in the South of England. In addition to performing with various bands around the country I also provide private drum lessons around the Locks Heath area.

My music education has seen me study for 4 years at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, where I was taught by some of the countries finest instructors, as well as receiving priceless master classes with some of the biggest names in the drumming and music industry. As well as gaining a BA(Hons) Degree, I also achieved a BTEC Diploma and Higher National Diploma in music.

As a teacher I love nothing more than being able to share the knowledge I’ve learnt so that others can benefit, progress and enjoy themselves. I have experience of providing drum lessons to students of all ages from 8 through to 60+! It’s never too late to learn. I have also taught group drum lessons in schools, and am CRB cleared. No matter your age or drumming background, there’s always something new to be learnt.

What?

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player,  I can tailor a lesson plan to help you develop and improve in the areas YOU want. With every student wanting to learn different aspects of drumming I have a vast supply of resources at my disposal including books, DVD’s and one-off lesson ideas. I’m also happy to offer suggestions and advice from watching you play.

To get beginning drummers playing and enjoying themselves as quickly as possible I have also written my own teaching syllabus. Titled ‘See, Hear, Sing, Play’ the book will have you up and running in no time.

A brief selection of possible topics covered include:

• All styles of music, from rock to latin.
• Techniques, including Moeller, double bass etc.
• Co-ordination and independence.
• Sight reading and chart interpretation.
• Repertoire – we can look at any songs you want to learn.
• Rudiments, sticking patterns and combinations.
• Groove and fill playing.
• Playing to backing and click tracks.

Where?

My private drum lessons take place around Southampton and Portsmouth, in Hampshire. Based in Locks Heath I am also able to travel to students (who own their own drum kits) in Locks Heath, Warsash, Park Gate, Titchfield, Fareham, Whitely, Stubbington, Segensworth, Sarisbury and other nearby areas.

I am able to offer drum lessons in Locks Heath at my own facilities, for beginners without a drum kit. This is located 5 minutes from Junction 9 of the M27 and 2 minutes from the A27.

How much?

Lessons are competitively priced against Musicians Union rates at £25 per hour, or £20 for 45 minutes (recommended for younger students).

The first half hour is FREE. During this time I will look to assess your current ability, find out what you want to learn and who your favourite artists are. For you, it’s your chance to make sure you’re happy with me and want to continue with lessons.

Please note that cancellation costs are applicable. Details are outlined in the terms and conditions both parties will be required to sign at the first lesson.
